Consists of a strongly contrasting network of veins against a different colour background. The dramatic spring leaves have a deep red background to the network of contrasting, almost black veins. The summer colour is a semi-shiny red-purple with a dark purple-red vein network and margins. The foliage turns a fiery orange to scarlet in the fall. The large broad seven lobed
leaves are moderately deeply divided and have conspicuously sharp-toothed, attractively
crumpled margins.
