Emma

Acer Palmatum Group: Dissectum - Red

The Emma is similar to the popular Ornatum in growth habit and early colour, but the leaves remain a deeper purple-red throughout the summer in full sun. When grown in shade the foliage greens up easily and is an interesting mixture of light purple-red and green. The leaves turn a rich orange-red in the fall. the medium to large finely cut leaves have seven to nine lobes and are divided right to the base with the lower third or so of each lobe barely more than the width of the midrib. Each lobe is further divided almost to the midrib into sub-lobes with blunts hooked teeth, giving an attractive lacy effect.
